How to Use Contactless Feature

Contactless feature (touchless) with symbol is a feature embedded in UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card to ensure seamless transaction without the need to enter PIN number in EDC machine.
With contactless feature, payment is made faster, easier and safer. There is no need to sign proof of payment or enter PIN number, just bring your UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card closer to the EDC machine and your transaction is done. This system is also a safer way to pay because your UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card does not leave your hand at the cashier.
To use this contactless feature, simply look for contactless symbol and Visa logo at the cashier. After the cashier enters purchase amount in the EDC machine, bring your UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card within 2.5 - 5 cm from the contactless card reader. The transaction is successful when the green indicator light turns on and you will receive confirmation notification of your successful transaction. This process only takes less than half second.

This feature is very safe to use, because like a chip card, each transaction is accompanied by a one-tine code that securely protects your payment information. You cannot pay accidentally because your card has to be within 2.5 - 5 cm from the card reader (and you will not be billed twice, even if you accidentally put your finger on the EDC machine twice.
You can use the contactless feature for your everyday shopping. However, if the total transaction value exceeds Rp1 Million (equivalent to foreign currency), then your transaction must use PIN number.
Contactless feature is designed as a paperless payment instrument, where you only need to bring the card closer and your transaction is done. However, proof of payment can be provided if need.
You can check transaction records online at any time via UOB PIB (Personal Internet Banking) or through UOB (Call) Contact Center at 14008. The monthly billing statement receive from UOB Bank will also record all contactless feature payments.
No. The contactless feature is designed to ensure that the card holder is always in control. The cashier must first enter purchase amount to be approved and UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card must be very close to the card reader for a successful transaction. EDC machines can only process one payment transaction at a time.
No. To ensure transaction is successful using contactless feature, the cashier needs to insert the purchase amount to activate contactless feature card reader. Then you will need to tap your UOB Visa Preferred Platinum credit card in the card reader machine to complete the transaction. This means that payment for contactless feature cannot be made without your consent. In addition, transactions for contactless feature is processed in the same way as purchases using other credit cards. The bank's network will monitor so that any suspicious activities can be identified quickly. All contactless feature readers are designed to only perform one transaction at a time. As a security measure, each transaction must be completed/successful or cancelled before other transactions can be made.
